Remembering Tamarack . . . . .
The Arabian in this photo looks just like Tamarack (Tammy), the 3/4 Arabian, 1/4 Morgan mare I used to ride at Iron Horse Stables growing up. She passed on when she was 14 due to an accident on the way to a trail ride at Cherry Creek Dam. The other horse in the trailer with her had gotten spooked and did some major damage to the trailer and to Tammy and himself (even if they are separated, they can really do some serious damage in enclosed spaces, just like at the races). The other horse was still very upset when they were led out of the trailer and he continued to lash out in a frightened rage. Tammy had two broken front legs and, unfortunately, had to be put down. I just learned about it this last year when I visited Cindy at her new ranch in Larkspur.
She was an unbelievably fantastic horse.
